MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521117009 A) filed by Aayush Khot; Sunil Ubhare; Anish Arote; Ashwini Koyande; Dr. Swapna Kadam; and Dr. Umesh Koyande, Maharashtra, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'wireless-controlled bomb-detection and disposal robot using esp8266 (bombshield).'
Inventor(s) include Aayush Khot; Sunil Ubhare; Anish Arote; Ashwini Koyande; Dr. Swapna Kadam; and Dr. Umesh Koyande.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "As the global threats and bomb incidences increase, BombShield, a wireless controlled bomb detection and defusing robot, is a valuable asset in handling and disposal of bombs. The chief purpose of this project is to develop a robot that is going to be used in order to help the bomb squads locate the bombs and defuse them minimizing the human risk during such operations. BombShield is constructed on ESP8266 microcontroller which is used for Wireless Communication between the robot and the operator. It is found that, the robot which is built has many sensing and probing systems and modules such as motion, object detection, and feedback, etc to help it moving in a complex environment to identify suspicion object and feedback the operator at the same instance. The installation of the wireless camera is useful to send live streams of the area so that the operator may scrutinize possible threats without being physically near the explosive. It also has an attached mechanical arm which can draw wires and working on the explosive devices, hence being of great help in diffusion of bombs. Being portable it is designed to navigate through small spaces thus can work well in the city or in the countryside. The operation of the robot is carried out through a Joystick controller, that provides a seamless communication without break Signals time lag. Thus, the applicability of BombShield is not limited to bombs only but in all search and rescue operations where possibility of having explosive is anticipated. Exploring this new concept of increasing the technology of diffusing bombs gives worth to the BombShield which will be benefits to the police force and defence forces."
