MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517131510 A) filed by Pregis Llc, Chicago, on Dec. 24, 2025, for 'wicketed envelopes.'

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Container units (106) configured to be held on a wicket (100) can include an envelope (10) having flexible walls fixed to each other and defining a pocket for holding an item, and a wicketing flap (18) connected to one of the flexible walls and configured to engage a wicket (100) to suspend the wicketed packaging device from the wicket. The wicketing flap (18) can detach from the envelope (10) in response to a force exerted on the envelope, and can remain engaged with the wicket (100) upon separating from the envelope (10). The wicketing flaps (18) of a plurality of the container units (106) can be connected to form a wicketing spine that helps to distribute the pulling force exerted on one of the container units to at least some of the other container units."
