MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049896 A) filed by Easwari Engineering College; and Srm Institute Of Science And Technology, Ramapuram Campus, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 20, for 'whistletrack pro - smart mechanical whistle monitoring system for pressure cooker.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Vinoth Kumar H; and Nidharshan Ganesan.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a mechanical whistle-counting system integrated into a pressure cooker regulator for automatically indicating the number of pressure-release cycles during cooking. The system comprises a steam release rod provided with a helical groove on its outer surface, a whistle assembly mounted over the steam release rod for vertical movement, and a ball follower positioned within the whistle assembly to engage with the helical groove. During operation, steam pressure causes the whistle assembly to move vertically upward, and upon pressure release the whistle assembly descends under gravity. During the downward movement, the ball follower travels along the helical groove, thereby converting vertical motion into controlled angular rotation of the whistle assembly. Each pressure-release cycle produces a fixed incremental rotational displacement. An external index mark on the whistle assembly aligns progressively with a numbered scale provided adjacent to the whistle, thereby enabling visual counting of whistle cycles. The invention operates without electrical or electronic components and provides a simple, low-cost, reliable, and maintenance-free counting mechanism for pressure cookers."
