MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541125672 A) filed by Sri Sai Ram Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 12, 2025, for 'wheelchair movement based on retina with camera and eeg signals.'

Inventor(s) include Sanjaikumar S; Muthamil Selvan M; Thanneermalai M; and Dr. Thamarai Selvi G.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This Intelligent, hands-free wheelchair control system integrates electroencephalogram (EEG) activation with infrared eye-tracking to enable safe, continuous mobility. EEG signals acquired from scalp electrodes are processed to detect an intentional-focus activation state that enables motion, while a camera captures eye images for real-time gaze estimation to derive forward and left/right navigation commands. An embedded controller fuses the EEG activation and gaze direction to generate motor-control signals for independent left and right drive motors to achieve differential steering. The system includes obstacle detection to limit or halt motion within a predefined f^geJ^(R)"TwireleS_lmirforcafegiWFfromfbFiffg=TKe=a^rBaclf improves control accuracy and safety without manual joysticks or voice input and is implementable with commercially available sensors and processors."
