MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117056 A) filed by Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'weather-responsive shelter system.'
Inventor(s) include Sairam Velchuri.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A weather-responsive shelter system, comprising a body 101 to be installed over an armrest of a wheelchair, a vertically oriented clamp 102, to ensure optimal alignment and stability, an input means to provide operative input commands, a telescopic rod 104 vertically mounted on a motorized ball and socket joint installed over the body 101, a canopy arrangement 105 to provide shelter to the user, plurality of links 106 attached with the rod 104 each by means of a motorized hinge joints 107 to deploy a fabric configured with the links 106, a weather sensing module for deploying the canopy arrangement 105, a plurality of electromagnets 108 to secure the fabric with the rod 104, an energy harvesting unit comprising a rotating cylindrical bar 109 connected to a wheel of the wheelchair and coupled to a generator 110 to power the of the device."
