MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117057 A) filed by Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'wearable prosthetic device for ducks.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A wearable prosthetic device for ducks comprises a wearable body 101 adapted to be secured around the duck's leg, an adjustable socket sleeve 102 connected to the proximal end holds the residual limb, with a tightening band 103 regulated is using a stored stump profile for adaptive fitting, a plurality of interconnected toe-like projections 104 joined by flexible webbing sections and a motorized hinge joints 105 provide angular movement, a ball-and-socket joint 106 allows movement of the body 101, an inspection unit with a camera 107 and motion sensors monitors gait and activity, sending data to the processing unit to adjust the band 103 and sends alerts to a caretaker via a user interface inbuilt in a computing unit, a multi-colour lighting elements 109 for wear and bending detection, a temperature sensor with a Peltier unit 108 to control the temperature, a UV-C sterilization light 110 to eliminate microbes."
