MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123394 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education, Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 8, 2025, for 'wearable fire proof industrial garment with water filled knee pad for pressure absorption and abrasion resistance.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Shasi Anand; and Dr. P. Jayakumar.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The titled invention discloses a wearable fire proof industrial garment with water filled knee pad for pressure absorption and abrasion resistance. The waist garment (1) forms the wearable base, lined internally with a waist insert (3) for fit stability and secured using a waist belt (4) that prevents displacement during motion. Fire proof cloth (2) is fixed across the waist garment (1) as a continuous stitched layer, delivering steady heat and spark defense while keeping bending unrestricted. A built-on knee pad assembly (5) sits at both knees and houses sealed water jackets (6). Water is loaded through the water fill inlet (7) and sealed by tightening the locking knob (8), forming a suspended water filled hump (10) inside the pad zone. Under kneeling pressure, the hump (10) reallocates force outward using fluid shift, softening impact and shielding garment fibers from abrasive floor contact. After use or before washing, the drain valve (9) releases water from the jackets without removing the knee pad assembly (5). This wearable garment stays aligned without straps, reduces knee stress, blocks heat conduction from work floors, limits fabric wear, and restores cushioning instantly after refill."
