MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411011076 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'wearable book fetching device for book shelf.'

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A wearable book fetching device for book shelf, comprising a ring 1 developed to be worn over finger portion by a user, the ring 1 is installed with a hook 2 via a telescopically operated rod 3 where user place the finger in proximity to book, a laser acuity sensor arranged on ring 1 for detecting diameter of user's finger, a motorized iris lid 4 embedded within ring 1 to close for gripping user's finger within ring 1 in a secured manner, a camera 5 mounted on ring 1 for capturing multiple image of bookshelf, a motorized hinge 6 for tilting hook 2 in a manner to engage hook 2 between pages of book, a pair of telescopically operated links 7 for pushing books placed on either side of user-defined book and a speaker 8 mounted on ring 1 for notifying user to pull ring 1 for fetching book."
