MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531087826 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on Sept. 15, 2025, for 'water quality monitoring system with autonomous operation and wireless data collection.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Sangita Roy; Dr. Sandhya Pattanayak; Mrs. Swati Barui; and Mr. Pranab Hazra.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A novel water quality monitoring system is disclosed, designed for autonomous, low-power operation with wireless data collection capabilities. The system integrates sensors to measure mud and algae concentration, temperature, total dis- solved ions, and thermotolerant coliforms, achieving sufficient accuracy to detect incidental pollution in Class I and II waters. A heuristic method enhances the detection of thermotolerant coliforms in the presence of mud and algae, addressing signal interference. Experimental validation in Slovenia and Serbia confirms the system's robustness, reliability, and accuracy, with minor discrepancies in thermotolerant coliform fluorescence measurements attributed to diverse coliform strains. The system enables early warning of pollution events, facilitating rapid response and laboratory confirmation."
