MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611054804 A) filed by Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, on April 29, for 'water quality management and bottle sterilization device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Manvinder Sharma; Dr. Satyajit Anand; Dr. Rajneesh Talwar; and Dr. Ritu Talwar.

The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A water quality management and bottle sterilization device, comprising a cap housing 101 configured for detachable engagement with a plurality of bottle types having variable outer diameters and thread patterns, a ranging and imaging assembly operatively coupled with a microcontroller to scan a neck of a bottle, measure outer diameter and thread geometry, and trigger a drawer arrangement to expand the housing for secure fitting, an array of water quality sensors to detect quality of water and classify measured water quality into three separate states, an autonomous sterilisation unit integrated within the cap housing 101 to sterilize according to the classified state, and an electrolysis generator with a pair of extendable electrodes 201 configured to activate upon critical contamination to generate reactive oxygen species and hydrogen peroxide for dissolving limescale, removing biofilm and neutralising organic contaminants."
