MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020103 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'water barricading system for flood prevention.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A water barricading system for flood prevention, comprising plurality of platforms 1 installed at bank of a water body in an adjacent manner, a plate 2 initially stored with a stowed state, a computing unit accessed by user to give input commands for securing platforms 1 on ground surface, plurality of telescopically operated rods 3 extend for adhering a suction cup 4 on the ground surface for stabilizing platforms 1, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 5 detects level of water in water body, a hydraulic rod 6 extends for tilting plates 2 away from each other via a hinge 7 to deploy plates 2 perpendicularly with respect to platforms 1, and an electromagnet for adhering free-ends of plates 2 with each other, thereby preventing flow of water across platform."
