MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050935 A) filed by Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary University, Gurugram, Haryana, on April 21, for 'waste sorting device in food and beverage industries.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A waste sorting device in food and beverage industries, comprising a cuboidal structure 101 on motorized omnidirectional wheels 102, one compartment 104 at the top and four aligned horizontally at the bottom for organized disposal of the waste, a plurality of sensors to identify different types of waste, a first AI camera 106 to detect and authenticate an employee, a waste segregation arrangement for multi-directional movement of the wedge-shaped plate 107 to enable automatic sorting of waste into respective lower placed compartment for biodegradable, non-biodegradable, biodegradable suitable for manure production, and plastic/metal, a plastic bag handling arrangement with rods 103 to extend and gripping clamps 111 to hold the bag and rotary cutter 112 to cut the bag, and a plurality of vertically mounted cascading sliders 114 to separate the compartment into four sections for biodegradable waste, non-biodegradable waste, manure waste, and plastic/metal waste."
