MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511105010 A) filed by Chitkara University; and Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Oct. 30, 2025, for 'waste segregation device.'
Inventor(s) include Lovneesh Sharma; Namita Aggarwal; Dr. Sukhvir Kaur; Dr. Sudarshan Pal Singh; Dr. Abhishek Kanoungo; and Hemant Mahajan.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A waste segregation device, comprises of an enclosure 101 crafted with a rotatable compartment 102 for receiving waste, a hinged lid 103 closing an opening of the enclosure 101, a pair of chambers 105, 106 including a first chamber 105 and a second chamber 106 for storing of dry waste and wet waste, a camera 108 for capturing images of user along with garbage bag, a pair of articulated telescopic grippers 109 to grip the garbage bag, a cutting unit to cut the garbage bag, a thermal imager 112 for detecting living entities in the compartment 102, a speaker 113 for generating an alert upon detection of the living entities, a T-bar 114 to spread the waste and a moisture sensor to determine moisture level of the waste to enable categorisation of waste into dry and wet."
