MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012501 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'walking assistive device for visually impaired.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Nagaraj.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A walking assistive device for visually impaired, comprises of a cuboidal frame 1 developed to be positioned on roadside configured with multiple motorized wheels 2 are arranged underneath the frame 1 for providing movement to the frame 1 on roadside, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 mounted on the frame 1 to determine presence of any visually impaired person on the roadside, a speaker 4 assembled on the frame 1 for generating voice commands, a platform attached with the frame 1 for accommodating the person, a microphone 5 assembled on the frame 1 for enabling the person to provide input commands, a pair of inverted L-shaped telescopic links 6 assembled on the frame 1 for extending to provide support to the person's hand, and an air inflating unit assembled on the frame 1 for inflating an inflatable sheet 7 arranged on the platform that provides comfort to the person."
