MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641061022 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on May 14, for 'vortex generator demister for vapour-liquid separation.'
Inventor(s) include Arulvel S; Vinoth Kumar P; Dsilva Winfred Rufuss D; Sakthivadivel D; Balaji K; and Kedar Babu Pingle.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A vortex generator demister assembly (100) is provided. The assembly (100) includes an inlet panel (102), an outlet panel (104), one or more support walls including an upper support wall (106) and a lower support wall (108), an inclined flow passage (112), and a plurality of vortex-generating elements (110). The inlet panel (102) is configured to receive a vapour stream containing entrained liquid droplets. The outlet panel (104) is configured to discharge vapour. The inclined flow passage (112) extends between the inlet panel (102) and the outlet panel (104) to define a flow path for the vapour stream. The vortex-generating elements (110) are mounted within the inclined flow passage (112) along the flow path and configured to impart a swirling motion to the vapour stream such that liquid droplets deviate from the flow path and contact internal surfaces. During operation, the vortex generator demister assembly (100) enables separation of liquid droplets from the vapour stream."
