Inventor(s) include Deepika R; Asishsurya V. K; and Eignesh E.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Automatic Visitor Counter and Room Automation System is designed to provide an efficient and error-free way to count the number of people entering and exiting a room or public area. It eliminates the need for manual counting or switch-based control systems, which are often inaccurate and labor-intensive. Using Arduino UNO, two IR sensors, and an LCD display, the system detects entry and exit based on the sequence of sensor activation. The visitor count is updated in real-time and displayed on the LCD screen. Additionally, the system automatically controls electrical appliances such as lights and fans, turning them ON when people are present and OFF when the room becomes empty. This project offers a low-cost, energy-efficient, and fully automated solution ideal for schools, offices, libraries, and public halls to ensure accurate occupancy monitoring and energy conservation."
