MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541132875 A) filed by Saveetha Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'virtual cosmetic application using ai-based facial landmark detection.'
Inventor(s) include Shanmuga Priya S; Michael Mahesh K; Jegatheeswari R; and Vaishnavi Devi S.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Virtual Beauty Studio System is an intelligent digital platform that enables users to virtually explore makeup skin tones and hairstyle variations using facial images captured through a standard webcam or uploaded photographs. The system eliminates the need for physical cosmetic trials by providing realistic visualization and personalized beauty suggestions through Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision (CV) techniques. Facial feature detection and landmark localization are performed using deep learning-based models to accurately identify key regions such as the face contour, skin area, and hair region. The system leverages OpenCV for image preprocessing and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for skin tone estimation, facial feature alignment, and hair segmentation. Based on the detected skin tone and facial structure, suitable makeup shades such as foundation and finishing effects are digitally applied, while hairstyle and hair color simulations are generated to match individual features. Machine learning-based recommendation algorithms suggest appropriate makeup shades and hairstyles according to user preferences. All processing is performed efficiently to ensure smooth performance, data privacy, and accessibility across common devices, making the system suitable for digital beauty consultation and e-commerce applications."
