Intellectual Property India Publishes Patent Application for 'Video Coding Method That Constructs Most Probable Mode List For Signalling Of Prediction Mode Selected By Intra Chroma Prediction And Associated Apparatus' Filed by Mediatek Inc.

MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527068299 A) filed by Mediatek Inc., Hsin-Chu, Taiwan, on July 17, for 'video coding method that constructs most probable mode list for signalling of prediction mode selected by intra chroma prediction and associated apparatus.'

Inventor(s) include Chuang, Cheng-Yen; Tsai, Chia-Ming; Tseng, Hsin-Yi; Chuang, Tzu-Der; Chen, Ching-Yeh; Hsu, Chih-Wei; and Chen, Yi-Wen.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for video coding includes: receiving data to be encoded or decoded as a current block of pixels of a current picture of a video, wherein the current block includes at least one chroma block; and encoding or decoding the current block by a prediction mode for intra chroma prediction of the at least one chroma block, which includes constructing a most probable mode (MPM) list, wherein the MPM list includes one or more intra chroma MPM candidates."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 12, 2024, under International application No.PCT/CN2024/071948.
