MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511020350 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on March 6, 2025, for 'vernacular materials based modular kinetic facade system.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Examples of a modular kinetic facade system 100 are described herein. The modular kinetic facade system 100 includes one or more facade modules 102 configured to be installed on a building structure as a movable louver. Each facade module 102 comprises a facade frame 104, a facade rotation assembly 600 configured to rotatably attach the facade frame 104 to the building structure about a facade axis of the facade frame 104, a plurality of sets of facade panels 110, a plurality of panel rotation assemblies 700, and a panel actuator. Each of the plurality of sets of facade panels 110 is rotatably mounted to the facade frame 104 by one of the plurality of panel rotation assemblies 700 and each of the plurality of sets of facade panels 110 is configured to independently rotate relative to the facade frame 104 about a panel axis. The panel axis is orthogonal to the facade axis of the facade frame 104."
