MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122948 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'vehicle-to-vehicle communication system using light fidelity technology.'
Inventor(s) include Dr J. Christopher Clement; Mr. Govindavasan. R; Mr. Jayanth. V; and Mr. Pradeep. S.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system using visible light transmission. The system includes a transmitter module mounted on a first vehicle with sensor means for detecting vehicular events, a light emitting diode for transmitting modulated visible light signals encoding data corresponding to detected events, and processing means for controlling the diode to encode events into modulated signals. The system includes a receiver module mounted on a second vehicle with a photodiode for receiving modulated visible light signals, processing means for decoding received signals to extract event data, and display means for presenting alert messages based on extracted data. The sensor means includes brake, accident, fire, and ultrasonic sensors for detecting brake application, collision impacts, elevated temperatures, and object proximity respectively."
