MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511115364 A) filed by Chitkara University; and Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Nov. 21, 2025, for 'vehicle fire protection and occupant evacuation system.'

Inventor(s) include Rohit Verma; Dr. Hakam Singh; and Dr. Ramamani Tripathy.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A vehicle fire protection and occupant evacuation system, comprises of a fire suppressant unit 101 to deliver suppressant agents rapidly to the detected fire zones, a plurality of heat-resistant panels 102 comprising oxygen-absorbing chambers 103 that expand and release oxygen-reducing agents upon heat or smoke detection to inhibit fire growth, a smoke filtration and recirculation unit 201 for capturing smoke, filtering contaminants, and recirculating clean air back into the cabin, a hammering arrangement to break window of the vehicle in response to smoke detection, a canopy unit 204 constructed of heat-resistant, fire-retardant materials, to shield occupants from flames and high temperatures, a vehicle speed and emergency alert unit to monitor driver response during smoke detection and provide external alerts."
