MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514084596 A) filed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Shizuoka, Japan, on Sept. 5, 2025, for 'vehicle control system.'

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem to be Solved] To provide a vehicle control system that can properly illuminate the surroundings of a vehicle by using headlights when switching between a low beam and a high beam, and can perform automatic brake control without causing any delay. [Solution] A vehicle control system 1 includes: a headlight unit 40 that illuminates an area ahead of a vehicle; a surrounding environment detector 12 that detects the environment surrounding the vehicle, the surrounding environment including an obstacle present in the area ahead of the vehicle; a brake control unit 30 that controls a braking force to perform automatic brake control according to the probability of collision between the vehicle and the obstacle detected by the surrounding environment detector 12; and a headlight control unit 20 that controls the headlight unit 40 to switch the illumination range between a low beam and a high beam, wherein the headlight unit 40 includes a first headlight 41 that is located near the driver seat at the front of the vehicle in the vehicle width direction and includes a low-beam filament and a high-beam filament in a single bulb, and a second headlight 42 that is located near the front passenger seat at the front of the vehicle in the vehicle width direction and includes a low-beam filament and a high-beam filament in a single bulb, and the headlight control unit 20 controls the headlight unit 40 to switch the first headlight 41 and the second headlight 42 independently in response to a switching request from a low beam to a high beam."
