MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043559 A) filed by Dharanish. A, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 6, for 'vaultnet-a secure and decentralized blockchain repository for ai model sharing.'

Inventor(s) include Dharanish. A; and Shamili. P.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The essence of the platfonn is to facilitate the secure storage, sharing, and validation of machine learning (ML) and AI models by the use of blockclmin and decentralized storage technologies. The fundamental objective of the system is to address issues that arise from the centralized model hosting ecosystem for AI such as indifference of trust, model tampering, the lack of clear ownership, and reproducibility problems. Here, the idea is to develop a web-based interface whereby users (developers, researchers, data scientists) can upload their trained AI models along with pertinent metadata (e.g., domain, training dataset used, license, accuracy metrics). To IPFS (InterPlanetary File System) they will send files instead of storing the models on a common server so as to have decentralized, credible storage. The blockchain record (e.g., Ethereum or Polygon) from wh1ch the hash of a irtodel file Will be taken rogerher wlrh its metadata will be forever stored on the blockchain through the smart contracts thus granting verifiability and traceability. The authenticity verification protocol of the model is a distinguishing aspect of the platfonn whereby each model uploaded will be accompanied by a digital signature that is verifiable by consumers. Moreover, in a bid to ensure that the licensing, ownership, and version control that are usually taken for granted in the conventional repositories are addressed, smart contracts will be perfonning these functions."
