MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202523103830 A) filed by Meril Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Vapi, Gujarat, on Oct. 28, for 'vascular closure device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a closure device (100) and a method of operating the closure device (100). The closure device (100) includes a housing (150), an outer tube (108), an inner tube (110), a closure element (114), a hemostatic element (116) and a slider (106). The inner tube (110) is slidably disposed within the outer tube (108). The closure element (114) is provided at least partially within a slit (110a) of the inner tube (110) and coupled to a suture (118). The hemostatic element (116) is provided in the inner tube (110) adjacent to the closure element (114) and is held in position via a suture (118). The slider (106) is coupled to a proximal end of the inner tube (110) and slidably disposed within a slot (151) of the housing (150). The slider (106) is movable between a first position (151a) and a second position (151b) wherein, the closure element (114) pivots relative to the inner tube (110) when the slider (106) is at the second position (151b)."
