MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521103831 A) filed by Meril Corporation (I) Private Limited, Vapi, Gujarat, on Oct. 28, for 'vascular closure device.'
Inventor(s) include Kothwala, Deveshkumar Mahendralal; Mirza, Zahidbeg Anisbeg; Khalifa, Mahmadfazal Samsuddin; and Thakkar, Parth Anilbhai.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a closure device (100) which includes a housing (190), an inner tube (140), an outer tube (130), a closure element (150), a sealant (160) and an actuator (170). The inner tube (140) is moveably disposed inside the housing (190) and the outer tube (130). The closure element (150) is provided at a distal end (140b) of the inner tube (140). The sealant (160) is disposed between the closure element (150) and the distal end (140b) of the inner tube (140) and is covered by the outer tube (130) in an unactuated state. Further, the actuator (170) is coupled to the inner tube (140) and disposed at least partially in a slot (197) of the housing (190). The actuator (170) is configured to move along one of a first path or a second path of the slot (197). The closure element (150) is deployed at an access site upon complete movement of the actuator (170) along the first path while, the sealant (160) is exposed upon complete movement of the actuator (170) along the second path."
