MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511116920 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 25, 2025, for 'utilization of green pea peel (waste) in production of processed food product.'
Inventor(s) include Anuj Yadav; Amit Kumar; Sunil Kumar; and Saurabh Tyagi.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention concerns about the green pea peel waste valorisation by converting it into a processed food product fortified with nutrients. The processed food product is obtained by the collection, blanching, drying and pulverization of pea peels into a fine powder and is then used in combination with prepared chutneys, soups, bakery products and other functional foods to increase the dietary fiber, protein and antioxidant content. This invention relieves the problem of more than one million tons of pea peel waste produced every year in India, minimizes pollution and is a low-cost method of producing functional food products with priceless fortified health benefits developed for mass production."
