MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441013868 A) filed by Sona College Of Technology, Salem, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 26, 2024, for 'two player board game system allowing for remote play through mixed reality.'

Inventor(s) include Shri. C. Valliappa; Shri. Chocko Valliappa; Dr. Valliappa Chockalingam; Dr. R. S. Sabeenian; Dr. J. Akilandeswari; Dr. K. Manju; R. V. Pragadeesh; N. Vikram; and Dr. K. Thangaraj.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method for enabling real-time, remote gameplay of Shogi, a traditional Japanese board game, while preserving its physical essence. The system incorporates a camera and a projector (2,3) integrated with a Raspberry Pi module for capturing and projecting board states (4,5). A central server (1) facilitates the transmission and synchronization of moves between players using Python-based socket programming, ensuring minimal latency and seamless gameplay. The method allows two players to experience synchronized gameplay on physical Shogi boards while maintaining a tactile and authentic gaming experience despite being geographically separated."
