MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641047937 A) filed by Institute Of Information Technology, Bangalore, Karnataka, on April 15, for 'two-axis capacitive displacement sensor and displacement measurement system resistant to dielectric and liftoff variations.'

Inventor(s) include Narayanan P. P.; and Pisharody Harikrishnan Gopalakrishnan.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a two-axis capacitive displacement sensor (100) for precision measurement application, a displacement measurement system and a construction method. The two-axis capacitive displacement sensor comprises a first printed circuit board (PCB) (102) having two triangular metallic plates and a second PCB (104) arranged orthogonally, forming four capacitances between overlapping plate regions. Displacement along each axis is computed from differential capacitances. The ratio-metric approach in the displacement measurement system normalizes each differential capacitance by total capacitance, rendering measurements independent of permittivity and separation distance variations. The sensor is suitable for industrial automation, robotics, and underwater scanning applications."
