MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341080317 A) filed by Dr. Santhosh M. Malkapur; Dr. Shankar H. Sanni; Dr. Dakshayani Malkapur; and Asha Santhosh Malkapur, Bagalkote, Karnataka, on Nov. 27, 2023, for 'tree-fall resisting system/apparatus at the off-street area for an inclined tree to withstand stronger wind and method of its construction.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to the development of Tree-fall resisting system/apparatus for an inclined tree to withstand stronger wind. It particularly relates to the development of Tree-fall resisting system/apparatus to withstand strong winds mainly in urban areas. More particularly, the invention relates to the design and development of method for fabrication or construction of Tree-fall resisting system/apparatus for stabilising an inclined tree against the critical forces developed due to wind load. The invention also pertains to the development of method for practicing the use of Tree-fall resisting system/apparatus for stabilising the tree against the critical forces developed due to wind load. The invented system is designed such that it occupies the space on the other side of the road i.e. off-street area (towards road margin or building line), so that the carriage way meant for the traffic is not restricted by the tree fall resisting system."
