MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044412 A) filed by Larsen & Toubro Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 7, for 'travelling formwork system for continuous wall casting in buildings and infrastructure projects.'

Inventor(s) include C Prasad; and E Iyappan.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to construction technologies, specifically to a movable or travelling formwork system used for the continuous casting of reinforced concrete walls. The system eliminates repeated dismantling, relocation, and re-erection of conventional shuttering systems and is particularly suited for applications where one side of the wall is highly confined, restricting normal shutter retraction and crane access. The invention comprises a rail-supported travelling formwork system designed for continuous wall casting, especially suited for confined-space environments. The system moves along a predefined alignment using a rail mechanism, similar to a miniature train track, allowing repeated use without dismantling. A key feature of the invention is the controlled shutter retraction mechanism, which allows the shutter on the confined side to retract by as little as 50 mm, sufficient for de-shuttering without requiring additional clearance. After de-shuttering, the entire formwork assembly is shifted as a single unit to the next wall segment. Vertical supporting members provided where the space is less, so the wall shutter can maintain the wall width."
