MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521068601 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Maharashtra, on July 18, 2025, for 'transmission-line inspection robot.'
Inventor(s) include Jitesh Kumar Gaharwal; Anirban Guha; and Arpita Sinha.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A transmission line inspection robot comprises a plurality of box-shaped main body units (1A, 1B, 1C) arranged along a longitudinal axis and mechanically interconnected by a spring-based coupling (5) permitting relative angular displacement while transmitting longitudinal load. Each main body unit includes a first pulley (2) having a first diameter and a second pulley (3) having a smaller second diameter, the pulleys being mounted above the main body unit for guided vertical movement along a slotted track (8) fixed relative thereto. A spring mechanism (6) is operatively coupled between the first pulley (2) and the second pulley (3) and biases the pulleys toward a conductor-engaging configuration. The pulleys cooperatively engage a transmission line conductor (9) and undergo relative vertical displacement along the slotted track (8) upon interaction with a line-mounted obstacle, followed by elastic restoration by the spring mechanism (6), thereby enabling continued traversal of the conductor (9)."
