MUMBAI, India, Nov. 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517096529 A) filed by Vestas Wind Systems A/S, Aarhus, Denmark, on Oct. 7, for 'transmission for a wind turbine.'

Inventor(s) include Piel, Daniel; Bager, Christian; and Weber, Andreas.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 14, under issue no. 46/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A transmission comprises a fixed gear ring, a first drive member that defines a plurality of bores, each of which accommodates a tooth element. A second drive member extends within the first drive member, and defines a cam surface or profile which engages each of the plurality of tooth elements. A body region of the tooth elements comprises: a generally cylindrical first body portion proximate the tooth tip region, a generally cylindrical second body portion distal from the tooth tip region, wherein the first body portion and second body portion are spaced apart along a body axis (A), a reduced-mass portion intermediate the first and second body portions. The reduced mass portion comprises an external surface. An imaginary cylindrical surface extends between the generally cylindrical first body portion and the generally cylindrical second body portion, and wherein the external surface of the reduced mass portion shares less than 95% of its surface area with the imaginary cylindrical surface."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 11, 2024, under International application No.PCT/DK2024/050044.
