MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086062 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'trailer hitch for a vehicle with adjustable mounting positions.'

Inventor(s) include Manjunatha Anthakanavar.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The proposed assembly (100) comprises a pair of side brackets (106) coupled to lateral ends of a trailer hitch/longitudinal member (102) and comprises one or more cut-outs. The assembly (100) further comprises spacer blocks (116) that are securely fitted in the cut-outs of the side brackets (106). The spacer blocks (116) comprise a hole that is offset from a center of the spacer blocks (116). The hole facilitates mounting of the side brackets (106) to fixation elements (108) provided on a BiW (110) of the vehicle using fasteners (114). Further, the spacer blocks (116) are configured to be secured within the cut-outs of the side brackets (106) upon rotation and fitment in a predetermined orientation such that the position of the offset hole with respect to the side brackets (106) is adjusted, thereby adjusting vertical and/or horizontal mounting points of the trailer hitch with respect to the BiW (110)."
