MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421067596 A) filed by Mahindra Electric Automobile Limited, Maharashtra, on Sept. 6, 2024, for 'towing assembly for a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Vishal Singh; Siddharth B Unadkat; Veera Selvan; Vinay Kumar Goyal; and Keshav T J Sharath.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is directed towards a towing assembly (100). The towing assembly (100) comprising a tow shaft (102) and a sleeve member (104) passing through a bumper beam (106). The sleeve member (104) extends from a fore portion (128) to an aft portion (130) and comprises an outer surface (104a). The outer surface (104a) is coupled/affixed with the bumper beam (106) and the aft portion (130) is coupled/affixed with a longitudinal member (108) of the vehicle. The sleeve member (104) is adapted to receive the tow shaft (102) through the fore portion (128). The tow shaft (102) is affixed with the sleeve member (104), whereby load applied on tow shaft (102) during towing of vehicle (10) is transferred to longitudinal member (108) through sleeve member (104). Such a construction enhances durability of towing assembly (100) and bumper beam 106, when load is applied during towing."
