MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641022955 A) filed by Arunachala Hitech Engineering College, Marthandam, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 26, for 'touch activated rainwater harvesting tank.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A clever, automated device called the Touch Activated Rainwater Harvesting Tank was created to effectively collect and manage rainfall with minimal human intervention. This project's primary objective is to save water by enhancing conventional rainwater gathering techniques with sensors and automation. In order to collect rainwater, the system automatically opens the tank lid when it detects rainfall using a rain detection sensor. In order to shield the stored water from dust, insects, and other impurities, the lid automatically closes when the rain stops. Before being placed in the tank, the collected rainwater is passed through a filtering device that eliminates physical contami"nants like dirt and leaves. To ensure that storage capacity is used properly, a water level sensor keeps an eye on the tank's water level and helps avoid overflow. The quality of the stored water is also monitored by a pH _sensor, which qualifies it for use in household and other non-potable applications. A microprocessor serves as the system'~ central control unit, regulating all sensors and mechanical parts. It manages the automated lid and monitoring features ' and processjng sensor data in real time. The technology enhances hygiene, boosts efticiency, and decreases water waste by doing away with manual operation. The suggested system can be used in harries, businesses, and institutions because it is economical, energy-efficient, and ecologically friendly. All things considered, this concept offers a workable and sustainable option for contemporary rainwater collection and water conservation."
