MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020148 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 18, 2024, for 'timber cutting assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A timber cutting assistive device comprises of, a cuboidal body 1 developed to be arranged on a ground surface, a touch interactive display panel 8 installed on the body 1 for providing input regarding a dimension in accordance to which a timber is to be cut, a motorized scissor arrangement 7 mounted in the body 1 for positioning a plate 6 configured with the arrangement 7 outside of the body 1, artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 2 arranged on the body 1 to detect dimensions of a timber that the user desires to cut, a drawer arrangement 7 embedded in the plate 6 to expand/ contract the plate 6 to securely grip the timber on the plate 6 and a robotic link 3 arranged on the frame and assembled with a motorized cutting unit 4 for positioning the cutter in contact with the timber."
