MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122116 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'threshold-based ensemble system for crop yield prediction.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Gayathri S; Rohinish Rakshan; Venkata Naga Ganesh Jujhavarapu; and Dr. Sunija A. P.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a threshold-based ensemble system for crop yield prediction. The system includes a data collection module configured to receive agricultural input data including geographic coordinates, crop type selection, and environmental parameters comprising temperature, rainfall, and pesticide usage data. A data preprocessing module cleans, normalizes, and extracts features from the agricultural input data. An ensemble prediction module comprises a first machine learning model with lower computational complexity and a second machine learning model with higher computational complexity, wherein the ensemble prediction module includes a trigger mechanism configured to dynamically select between the first machine learning model and the second machine learning model based on predicted yield threshold ranges. An output module generates crop yield predictions using the selected machine learning model."
