MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511113238 A) filed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'thermal insulating sleeve for heated dental hand instruments.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Shikha Jaiswal; and Dr. Sachin Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention pertains to a new silicone-based insulator sleeve for heat carrier dental hand instruments, including ball burnishers and excavators. The insulator sleeve is made from heat-resistant and autoclavable silicone, measuring 5-5.5 inches in length and 3.5-4 mm in diameter. The insulator sleeve is also stretchable, allowing for a tight fit to instruments of different diameters. The insulator sleeve prevents heat conduction from the working end of the heated instrument to the handle, thus protecting the operator and the patient from possible burns. The insulator sleeve is economically reusable and can be used in all standard dental sterilization techniques."
