MUMBAI, India, Oct. 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023449 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 25, 2024, for 'theft prevention device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A theft prevention device comprises of a platform 1 installed with a surface of a wall by means of multiple suction units 2 configured with platform 1, a plate 3 is arranged with the platform 1 by means of a motorized sliding unit 4 to provide bi-directional movement to the plate 3 as per requirement, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 5 installed on the plate 3 for capturing images of people present in surroundings, a computing unit wirelessly linked with the microcontroller to monitor the surroundings by means of the imaging unit 5, a chamber 6 installed with the platform 1 to store nitrogen gas, an electronic nozzle 7 to dispense the gas towards the detected person in order to deter the detected person, and an impact sensor to monitor impact experienced by the platform 1."
