MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541129975 A) filed by Takshashila University, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 22, 2025, for 'thailam stick: a novel pharma/topical delivery system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. K. Puviyarasi; K. Raj Esh Kumar; M. Vasanth Kumar; and Dr. S. Sathya.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to the development of a novel pharma/topical delivery system. It typically includes a thailam (1), a gelling agent (2), a solvent (3), a stabilizer (4), a permeation enhancer (5), a preservative (6), a container (7). This invention offers significant advantages over traditional liquid Thailams by providing a mess-free,. portable, and user-compliant solid dosage form that maintains the therapeutic efficacy io of the medicated oil while enabling targeted and consistent topical application. This thailam can be applied in therapeutics for conditions traditionally treated by the liquid Thailam, including pain relief, anti-inflammatory treatment, dermatological conditions, and localized nourishing or wound care."
