MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411020027 A) filed by Shobhit Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on March 18, 2024, for 'textile floor cover cutting assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A textile floor cover cutting assistive device, comprises of a circular platform 1 developed to be positioned on a textile floor cover, an imaging unit 3 for capturing and processing images of surroundings of platform 1, a hydraulically operated pusher 4 for extending towards cover in order to penetrate a spike attached with pusher 4, inside cover, a display panel 5 for allowing a user to input details regarding a size of cover that user desires to cut, an ultrasonic sensor arranged on body 7 for detecting distance between blades 8, a circular shaped sliding unit 9 for providing rotational motion to body 7 in order to cut cover in user specified dimension, a magneto inductive displacement sensor for detecting sharpness of blade 8 and a speaker 10 assembled on platform 1 for generating voice commands to notify user to re-sharp blade 8."
