MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441007836 A) filed by Engine Factory, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 5, 2024, for 'test rig for pressure testing of various aluminium casting used in high power diesel engine.'
Inventor(s) include A. Murugan; Silar Shariff Mohammed; and Mudavath Balaji Naik.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention introduces a test rig for pressure testing critical castings used in high-power diesel engines. The rig comprises a stainless steel water tank with a heat-resistant coating, a polypropylene water pump, a 3 HP motor, an air compressor, and high-pressure hydraulic and air hoses with quick-release couplings. Additional features include a digital temperature controller, glycerine-filled pressure gauges, and an oil immersion type tubular heater. The rig ensures secure, leak-free connections and precise temperature control for effective defect detection in castings. The method includes heating water to 80-95 C and circulating it through the castings at specific pressures to identify defects."
