MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517097378 A) filed by Interdigital Ce Patent Holdings, Sas, Paris, on Oct. 9, for 'temporal prediction using cross-component residual model.'
Inventor(s) include Galpin, Franck; Bordes, Philippe; Francois, Edouard; and Salmon-Legagneur, Charles.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The cross-component model generally describes a relation between the luma samples and associated chroma samples. Using the cross-component model parameters derived based on a neighboring region, the chroma samples of the current block can be predicted from the collated reconstructed luma samples. Because the cross-component model parameters are derived at both the encoder and decoder, these model parameters need not to be signaled explicitly and therefore can reduce signaling overhead. In one implementation, the model parameters of a cross-component model are obtained that models a relation between at least a temporal prediction of a luma sample (PredY) and a temporal prediction of a chroma sample (PredCb/PredCr). Encoding and decoding method based on the cross-component residual/prediction model are further disclosed."
The patent application was internationally filed on Apr. 17, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/060334.
