According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A potato planter has a tailored, 3D-precision, in-furrow product delivery system mounted thereon. The in-furrow product delivery system is operated by a controller that is configured for analysing a pressure signature received from a pressure sensor in the press wheel of the planter and for determining characteristics of the seed pieces and the amount and location of in-furrow product required by each seed piece. The dispensing of in-furrow product is selectively done in two or three dimensions. The dispensing of in-furrow product is done in symmetrical horizontal placements and symmetrical volumes relative to the centroid of the seed piece. The dispensing can also be done in a third dimension, on the floor of the furrow or over a layer of soil of selective thickness over the seed piece."

The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 19, 2024, under International application No.PCT/CA2024/000003.
