MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521104815 A) filed by Dr Chetna Devkar, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Oct. 30, for 'tactile keypad overlay for touchscreen devices.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a tactile keypad overlay for touchscreen devices that includes a flexible base layer constructed from flexible material having a thickness configured to permit touch recognition through the layer, a plurality of tactile key regions arranged on the base layer in a keypad configuration, each tactile key region having raised borders defining individual key boundaries, Braille embossing having raised dots arranged in patterns corresponding to characters and positioned within the tactile key regions, and an attachment mechanism configured to secure the overlay to a touchscreen device while maintaining alignment between the tactile key regions and corresponding virtual keys displayed on the touchscreen. The tactile keypad overlay enables visually impaired users to locate and identify keys through tactile feedback from the Braille embossing while allowing touch input to register on the underlying touchscreen through the flexible material."
