MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311085941 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Dec. 15, 2023, for 'systems and methods to transfer an e-sim from source device to target device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system to transfer an e-sim from a source device to a target device is disclosed. The system comprises a common OEM entity, a MNO entity, the source device, and the target device. The system is configured to detect, by the target device, a request to transfer the e-sim from the source device to the target device and determine, by the common OEM entity, a priority of the target device with respect to the source device. Further, the system is configured to trigger, by the common OEM entity to the MNO entity, a first transaction indicative of a request to generate a new profile for the e-sim for the target device and deletion of the e-sim from the source device and send, by the MNO entity, the generated new profile to the target device via the common OEM entity for download and activation at the target device."
