MUMBAI, India, June 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517034999 A) filed by Univercells Technologies Sa, Nivelles, Belgium, on April 10, for 'systems and methods for recovering target biomolecules from fixed bed bioreactors.'

Inventor(s) include Drugmand Jean Christophe; Hubert Antoine; Pereira Chilima Tania; and Meerts Romane.

The application for the patent was published on June 13, under issue no. 24/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The current invention relates to a method for obtaining one or more target biomolecules from cells cultured in a fixed bed bioreactor said method comprises: the addition of a lysis solution to the bioreactor thereby lysing the cells in the bioreactor and prior to simultaneous with and/or after lysing said cells applying one or more mechanical actions to said bioreactor after which the one or more target biomolecules are recovered from said bioreactor. The invention further relates to a system for obtaining one or more target biomolecules from cells cultured in a fixed bed bioreactor."

The patent application was internationally filed on Nov. 17, 2023, under International application No.PCT/EP2023/082182.
