MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517079977 A) filed by Nokia Technologies Oy, Espoo, Finland, on Aug. 22, for 'system information acquisition.'

Inventor(s) include Tao, Tao; Wu, Chunli; Keating, Ryan; Cha, Hyun-Su; and Thyagarajan, Manivannan.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Example embodiments of the present disclosure relate to relaxed acquisition of system information. An apparatus receives, from a network device, an indication indicating one or more cells on which the apparatus is allowed to skip acquiring at least part of system information, wherein at least part of the one or more cells is permittable for the apparatus to camp on. The apparatus then determines, based at least on the indication, whether to skip acquiring the at least part of the system information on at least one cell of the one or more cells. In this way, low power high accurate positioning device is able to adjust the behavior for system information reception within the positioning area, and thus power consumption can be reduced."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 03, 2023, under International application No.PCT/CN2023/074466.
