MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053180 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on April 26, for 'system for sign language recognition with ai word models and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Aayush Bhansali; and Dr. Gajendra Singh.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a system (100) for sign language recognition with AI word models. System (100) comprising device (200) configured with plurality of sensor (202) for sensing orientation of motion and control unit (204). Control unit (204) comprising controller (206) configured to memory (208) and performs once-per calibration for plurality of discrete bend zones of angles. Control unit (204) comprising Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) (214) which estimates hand orientation using at least one of yaw, pitch, and roll. The IMU (214) generates orientation vector. The control unit (204) comprising AI Micro Model (210) which predict letters based on reference data stored into data unit (220). Control unit (204) comprising computing model (218) configured to quantize each orientation of motion into plurality of discrete bend zones of angle based on predefined calibration thresholds which splits zones. System (100) comprising plurality of edge device (400) connected to device (200) through communication network (300)."
