MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043578 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on April 6, for 'system for real-time screen privacy protection using multi-user detection and display obfuscation.'
Inventor(s) include Sujatha R; and Tanmay Kapoor.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "System for Real-Time Screen Privacy Protection Using Multi-User Detection and Display Obfuscation. The present invention discloses a system for real-time screen privacy protection by detecting multiple individuals within a viewing region and automatically applying a display obfuscation mechanism. The system comprises a camera module configured to capture a live video feed and a human detection module configured to detect faces and determine a viewer count using a face detection algorithm. A processing unit and privacy protection controller compare the viewer count with a predefined threshold to identify the presence of additional viewers. Upon detection of more than one individual, a display module activates a visual obfuscation layer comprising a blur or pixelation overlay to obscure screen content. The system automatically restores normal display visibility when only a single user is present. The system operates continuously in real time using frame-wise analysis and enables automated protection of on-screen information without requiring manual intervention or additional hardware."
